Looking for facts or background information?

If so, most of your questions can be answered by using our Reference Collection.  If you have a specific topic you would like to research, click on “Find Books” on the library’s homepage and then “Forsyth Library Catalog.”  Key in your topic and click “Search.”  To find Reference books, click on the drop down arrow to the right of “All locations” and select “Reference-Main Floor.”

For example, if you’re looking for information on forensic science, the arts, or America during the 1990’s, you would find:

This new 3 volume source covers a wide-range of forensic topics including specific types of investigations, investigative techniques, specialized equipment, and types of evidence.  Some other titles about forensic science in the Reference Collection include The Encyclopedia of Forensic Science; Forensic Science Glossary; The World of Forensic Science; and Forensic Science: An Encyclopedia of History, Methods, and Techniques.

The Grey House Performing Arts Directory

This new Grey House publication has directory-type information for the various categories of art such as vocal music, instrumental music, theater, dance, and festivals.  Appropriate newsletters, list servs, databases, periodicals, trade shows, directories, and websites are also included. 

Some other useful Grey House directories in the Reference Collection include The Complete Learning Disabilities Directory, The Grey House Homeland Security Directory, and The Environmental Resource Handbook.  Another Grey House publication, Profiles in America,  has  facts, figures, and statistics for every populated place in the United States.

The Nineties in America

The Nineties in America covers the events, people, social issues, music, politics, health and medical issues, business, art, literature, and other important subjects during this period of time.  This new three volume set is similar to similar sets received for The Forties, The Fifties, The Sixties, The Seventies, and The Eighties in America.

Another popular series in the Reference Collection, referred to as the Day by Day series, also has related information about the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s in America.  These sets give major events that took place for each day of the year regarding World Affairs; U.S. Politics & Social Issues; U.S. Foreign Policy & Defense; U.S. Economy & Environment; Science, Technology & Nature; and Culture, Leisure & Life Style.
